Athol Newfangled Book Club, geared to ages 9-12 years

The second Monday of each month at 3:30 pm.

Join the Newfangled Book Club, read timeless favorites and make new friends.

We will discuss what we loved most about each book, as well as our least favorite parts.

October will be about Charlotte’s Web.

Hayden: Tough Topics Story Time - Grief

One of the best ways to introduce children to a tough topic is through books before the tough situation has occurred.

This story time is an introduction to grief through picture books. Death of animals and humans will be gently explored through several books.

Discussion ideas and questions will be provided for families to continue the conversation at home.

Hayden Sensory Story Time - Geared to ages 3-6

Mondays, 10:30 am. Geared to ages 3-6.

A special story time geared to children on the autism spectrum or with other special needs.

Explore books, songs, and movement in a structured, fun environment.

Registration preferred—a picture schedule of the upcoming story time will be emailed so you and your child can discuss and plan in advance.

Begins Monday, September 10th. No program November 12th and November 19th.

Hayden Book Babies - Geared to ages Birth-2

Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m.

Join us for this lively language enrichment story time which includes songs, rhymes, fingerplays, bubbles, and a short story.

Stick around afterwards to socialize and join in a baby-friendly playgroup! No program November 20th.

Come enjoy seasonal stories, songs, flannel boards, crafts, and lots of interactive activities especially for preschoolers!

Your toddler will love this active story time filled with dancing, show and tell, and a monthly special session of messy science.

Hayden Children’s Advisory Board - Geared to 4th and 5th graders

Children ages 9-11 are invited to join our Children's Advisory Board!

2nd Thursdays, 4:00 pm-4:45 pm.

The Children's Advisory Board meets once a month on 2nd Thursdays. At each meeting, Kid Advisers will get access to books before they are published. They will spend the next month reading as many of these new books as they want. Then, at the next meeting, Kid Advisers will let the library know if we should add these books to our collection. Kid Advisers will also help us plan and evaluate new programs they think their fellow kids will enjoy!

Children will also be introduced to a variety of musical instruments and concepts. Program is held in the community meeting room.

Looking for a new costume for your child? Look no further than your local library! We are hosting a costume exchange where community members can choose to swap rather than shop!

Those who donate a clean, gently used costume will receive a ticket that allows them early bird entry to the costume exchange on Saturday, October, 20.

Don’t have a costume to donate? You can still join the fun; general admission begins at 12:00 pm.
